Vehicle Safety - Following Simple Vehicle Safety Tips Can Reduce Auto Accidents and Injuries

Child Car Seat Safety:

We know you love your children, but so many people do not follow these simple car seat safety principles. By following these easy steps you can ensure your child is completely safe in your car. Just to get one thing straight, there is no one best child car safety seat. The best car safety seat is determined by various factors that you as the parent need to take into consideration. The seat needs to fit your child’s height and weight, as well as be able to fit properly in your car.

Another common misconception is price. More expensive, does not always mean better quality or the seat is better safety wise.

The first step of proper car seat safety is of course determined by the age of your child. Any child that is under the age of twelve should be kept in the back seat of a vehicle. This is especially true if your car has passenger side air bags.

Infants should be in a rear facing car seat until they are at least one year old and twenty pounds. After they are twenty pounds they can be placed in a front facing car safety seat until they are around forty pounds or they have reached the maximum height recommended for the specific car safety seat in question.

Once a child reaches forty pounds, they should be placed on a belt positioning booster seat. The vehicle’s normal seat belt should not be used until they are around eighty pounds or 4ft 9 inches tall.

As always read your car’s owners manual as well and any manuals with the car safety seat.

Additional Car Safety Tips:

Most accidents that occur over a parent/child incident occur when a parent is trying to turn around and discipline their child. Think about it, you are taking you eyes as well as you mind off of the primary task at hand (driving) and exclusively focusing on your child who should be, and usually is behind you in the back seat of the vehicle.

To prevent this the best thing to do if you must discipline your child is to find a place to pull over and do so then, when you are not moving.

Child Safety is our primary concern, check out these FREE child safety related resources at Child Safety Booster Seats

Article Marketing - Tracking Article Propagation by Tracking Clicks to Your Webpage

Tracking by Clicks

This is another effective method of tracking the propagation of your article, although it is geared more towards tracking the effectiveness of your article or article submission process when you are submitting for the purpose of generating immediate article directory clicks rather than mass-submitting for backlink purposes.

To do this, you can use adtracking software, or you can design a separate opt in page or web page for each different article directory you use.

If you are using adtracking software, simply include the adtracking link to your bio instead of your regular website link, and you will be able to track the number of clicks from each article directory. This allows you to determine exactly which article directories are most effective for your style and topic genre.

Instead of using adtracker software, you can assign a different webpage for each article source, and place the link to that particular webpage in each article that is submitted to a particular article directory. As long as you can view the individual pages results in your website traffic tracking software, this is quite effective.

If your traffic tracker does not offer the ability to view visitors by page, you can use your autoresponder opt in code to do the work for you. Some autoresponders like aweber, (which I use) can show you the number of times a particular opt in form is shown, and they also show you what percentage of unique web hits that you have received becomes a subscriber. This is an additional method of determining which article directories are most effective at generating clicks, and also allows you to compare the responsiveness of different visitors based on their article directory source.

The Clever Compact Low Emission Vehicle for Urban Transport, Vehicle is Here

Well there is a new prototype car with three wheels, which is poised to take the European market by storm. And it is very clever indeed. In fact so is its name The CLEVER, which stands for; Compact Low Emission Vehicle for Urban Transport. This vehicle is only 3 feet wide and it is a cross between a motorcycle and a car with two wheels in the back and one in the front.

The clever car can run and 60 mph and with its reduced width it is much easier to find parking spot say it’s designers. On the Clever Car website it shows that this car is a collaboration between many partners and those partners include: “the Technische Universitaet Berlin in Berlin, the Institut Francais Du Petrole in Vernaison near Lyon, and the Institut Fuer Verkehrswesen – Universitaet Fuer Bodenkultur, in Vienna.”

The vehicles body is made out of aluminum frame and plastic body and the rider’s carriage tilts when you turn a corner. The sensors in the car tell the vehicle how lifted tilts based on the speed and the sharpness of the turn. Everyone assured the score will be a hit in England and in all of Europe and it runs on compressed natural gas and puts out a third of the amount of pollution and the most efficient family type cars in Europe. And best of all it gets over 108 mpg. Hello you say? Yes and the big question is when can we get them here in the United States? Consider this in 2006

Tracking Success With A Goal Tracking Chart

Creating a goal tracking chart is as simple as drawing a basic grid or table. Create as many vertical columns as you have goals to include, and include a horizontal row for every sub-goal or milestone you wish to divide your goals into, plus one row on top for your "Finish By" date and one row below for your goal heading or title. [Hint: Creating a goal tracking chart poster-sized on inexpensive and brightly colored poster board ensures visibility and accountability!]

Complete and use your chart according to the instructions below:

1. Place the name of one goal, or a major section of a larger project goal, in the row of boxes at the bottom of the chart.

2. In the row of boxes at the top of each chart, in the appropriate column above each goal or goal section, place the deadline for that goal, if applicable.

3. Break down each goal or goal section into individual steps that make sense for each one (pound loss intervals for a weight loss goal, steps for completing and sending off a college application, action steps that make up a project phase, etc). Fill in the boxes in each column between the goal title and the finish date with stages involved in meeting that goal, starting with the first step in the lower-most square, just above the goal heading or title, and working your way up to the deadline. Use as many or as few boxes as you need.

4. Cross out, color in or place a sticker, etc., in each goal-step box as you complete that step. By placing several related goals on one chart, you can track whether or not one goal is getting the lion's share of your attention, and you can eliminate worry over forgetting about less vital, but still important, goals in the flurry of day-to-day life.

Large projects can easily be managed using the goal tracking chart by grouping all of the goals specific to each phase of the project together on seperate charts. This way, you can ensure that all project goals are met in a timely manner, and the project as a whole is completed smoothly and efficiently, with no forgotten stepping-stones or bottlenecks.

Auto Insurer's Vehicle Electronic Tracking Device Can Discount Your Car Insurance Premiums

Do you act differently when somebody's watching? Perhaps those crazy dance moves that you perform in the privacy of your own living room wouldn't be performed in the middle of a crowded dance hall?

Is it any different when you drive a car? Would you drive better if you knew Geico were watching your every move… every acceleration… every speed… every brake? If you knew Allstate were watching, would you drive so recklessly?

A handful of auto insurance companies are piloting a program where a vehicle electronic tracking system (smart meter) is connected to the car's electronic diagnostic system and works similarly to the "black box" on airplanes (similar to the device manufactured by Intelligent Mechatronic Systems Inc. of Waterloo, Ontario) The device, among other things, tracks the following:

  • Speed
  • Total distance that you drive
  • Time of day that you drive
  • Aggressive acceleration and breaking
The auto insurer will discount your auto insurance premiums for renewals based on the statistics uploaded from the smart meter.

I'm no statistician but i truly believe that this program makes sense; good drivers should get more discounts than bad drivers. But I think this program will go even further in creating better drivers and, thus, reducing car accidents and subsequent claims. It doesn't say this in the insurance company's marketing materials but this is what I think would happen: When you know somebody is watching (the insurance company) you consciously change your habits; in this case, your driving habits.

So you drive better, have less accidents, and then you get cheaper auto insurance rates. You win. The insurance company wins. Everybody wins!

Global Positioning System (GPS) Internet Vehicle Tracking Can Save

Two out of five deaths among U.S. teens are the result of a motor vehicle crash. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2004) Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers who drive. Drivers between the age of 16 and 24 are twenty times more likely to find themselves in a car accident than any other age group. (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)

Teenage drivers are at a higher risk for being in a car crash because:

Lack of driving experience – The first few years of driving are the most dangerous; don’t let inexperience behind the wheel harm your child.

A tendency to take risks while driving – Teens are more likely to be influenced by peer pressure and distractions. This can lead to reckless driving and speeding.

Feeling of invincibility – Teens believe they’re going to live forever and that influences their behavior behind the wheel of their 3,000 pound car.
These 3 things combined are a deadly combination.

But Millennium Plus GPS is a tool that allows parents to monitor and protect their teenage drivers.

When parents urge their teen to be careful driving, they reply “yeah, yeah, yeah.” Then once they turn the corner with the car, you just keep your fingers crossed and wonder, how does my teenager “really” drive? Well, now you’ll know for sure! If they speed or do something with the car you don’t approve of, you’ll know.

“The bottom line is that your teenager’s life and safety is priceless. Leave Nothing to Chance!! Know everything about your teen’s driving! Better safe than sorry. Your teenager doesn’t have the wisdom of an adult yet. That’s why they need your close supervision and attention. You can record the whereabouts of your teen’s car including location and speed plus many other features with a Millennium Plus GPS system. Millennium Plus GPS will help you do your job of being a parent to keep your teen driver safe and injury-free. Peace of Mind is now affordable”. Lillie Davis - http://www.falcongpstracking.com

QuickBooks - Tracking Vehicle Mileage for Accurate Write-Offs

Accurately tracking vehicle mileage is often overlooked in small business accounting and tax preparation. Often, either mileage is underreported due to lack of records or a fear of being audited, or it's over-reported, also due to lack of records, or a "I know how much I drove" attitude.

Although it's best if taxpayers have a small notebook in the car to record actual odometer readings each time a business trip is made, this is cumbersome, and most people don’t want to do it. Accurate records are a must, because mileage deductions must be able to stand up to scrutiny in the event of an IRS audit.

QuickBooks can help. Use the following steps to generate and record vehicle mileage.

1. If you do not have any mileage records already recorded in QuickBooks, proceed to step 2. If you do have a few mileage records recorded in QuickBooks, go through them and make certain each one has the trip destination recorded in the Notes field, such as "ABC Printing" (from the Company menu, select Record Vehicle Mileage, then page through the records to check them). Then, generate a Mileage by Vehicle Detail report (from the Reports menu, select Jobs, Time, & Mileage, then select Mileage by Vehicle Detail). In the Dates field, select This Tax Year to Date. Using the Modify button, eliminate all columns except Vehicle, Trip End Date, Total Miles, and Notes. Print this.

2. Generate a Profit and Loss Detail (from the Reports menu, select Company and Financial, then Profit & Loss Detail). Set the date range for This Fiscal Year to Date. Using the Modify button, eliminate all columns except Type, Date, Name, Memo, and Amount. Print this.

3. If your company is the type where you drive to see customers, generate a Transaction List by Customer report. From the Reports menu, select Customers & Receivables, then select Transaction List by Customer. Using the Modify button, select the Filters tab. In the box labeled Filter, select Transaction Type. Change the Transaction Type from All to Invoice. Click Ok, then print the report.

4. Compare the reports. Look at every line item to see if it represents a place you actually drove, either to purchase something, have services rendered, or perform work for a customer. If there are destinations missing in the Mileage by Vehicle report, enter them (from the Company menu, select Enter Vehicle Mileage). Don't forget to include the trip destination in the Notes field. Consider using one of the online map sites (such as Yahoo! Maps or Mapquest) to generate printed information about the distance between your office and the destination. Save the reports and the printed map information for your tax file.

Caveat

I am not asserting that this method will definitely stand up to IRS scrutiny. However, this is certainly better than going into an audit with no mileage records. Here's a quote from IRS's Publication 17 for 2004, from page 193 where it discusses Adequate Records: "Documentary evidence ordinarily will be considered adequate if it shows the amount, date, place, and essential character of the expense." As long as you can produce the receipt or invoice showing the trip, and the map information showing the distance, this method fulfills these requirements.

Nobody wants any of their deductions disallowed for lack of evidence. If you don't want to use a mileage notebook in the car, this method will help ensure that whatever mileage you do claim is well documented.

Car Alarms With GPS Tracking For Vehicle Recovery

Today's most advanced car alarms offer GPS tracking capabilities that are extremely helpful in locating an apprehended vehicle. Beyond the ability to pinpoint the vehicle's location, these GPS tracking systems offer many two way communication options to car owners. Owners are automatically notified via phone call or text message if a car has been broken into. Owners can also contact the cars remotely through GPS tracking features of their car alarms.

From anywhere in the world, these car alarms GPS tracking devices can be armed or disarmed with a phone call or text message. Doors can be locked or unlocked by dialing into the GSM alarm. And, the car's status in many areas can be remotely determined. Wondering if the doors are open or shut? Wondering if the car alarm has been engaged? With the capabilities of GPS tracking car alarms you can wonder no more. These systems can even tell you if the engine is running, regardless of its location.

A highly desirable security feature of the GPS tracking devices is that they allow the car's owner to remotely immobilize the car at any time and from any location to thwart a robbery attempt. The car owner can also engage or disengage the vibration sensor, and even determine the reason why the car alarm activated before notifying the owner via phone call or text message.

Within moments of a break-in, the GPS tracking car alarm will call or text the car's owner to advise them of the situation. Because these systems are able to discern the particulars of the break-in situation, the owner notification also offers the owner important information about how to proceed. And, if silent mode has been selected, these things can be accomplished without ever alerting the thief that the alarm has engaged.

The additional cost of adding GPS tracking to your car alarm is actually quite reasonable when compared to the cost of otherwise trying to recover an apprehended vehicle. These GPS tracking car alarm features are being utilized by individual car owners as well as car rental and fleet management firms to manage their assets in a cost-effective, proactive manner. Any car alarm will offer some peace of mind to the car's owner, but these GPS tracking features take this to a whole new level in the global marketplace.

Vehicle Tracking Systems, Worth the While?

Tracking systems are used for many reasons. A courier can determine where, and how fast, one of their vehicles is going at any time. Thieves can be followed right to their doorsteps. They can even remember mileage records and such, and remind you when go in for a service.

Most Vehicle tracking systems use GPS, or Global positioning system, to record their exact position, speed and direction at regular intermissions. A network of satellites in medium earth orbit gathers such data. This system is used for other applications, such as navigation, map making and land surveying. It was originally created by the US department of defence, who developed it to attain a precise time reference for earthquake study, and for synchronizing telecommunication systems.

Some advantages of fitting ones vehicle with a satellite tracking system would display as follows. One can get a 30 percent discount on vehicle insurance when fitted. Companies can catch out employees who are using company time to satisfy their personal needs during valuable company paid hours, or those dragging their feet for unwarranted extra overtime pay. Company managers of service and delivery organizations can respond to an order or call-out promptly by sending the nearest available vehicle to the area of the call, they can also gratify customers by providing a very accurate estimated time of arrival on deliveries and service. All employee or driver records like his or her exact routes can be charted and kept for the appropriate time – no employee can lie about their whereabouts.

For the benefit of a company dispatcher, asset data can be freely monitored and managed over the very simple and user friendly system of a computer application. Upon feedback from those who have bought vehicle tracking system installations, reports tell a 6 to 12 month return on investment, from the increased efficiency of production and reduced costs. Of course, one should never leave out of their memory the obvious drastic recoup of costs one would experience in the successful recovery of ones stolen asset or vehicle via the highly sophisticated system or network of satellites that circulate the outer atmosphere of the planet, coupled with the unit installed on the vehicle.

Navigation is made into child’s play when one utilizes a satellite navigation device to aid them in finding accurate guidance to the sometimes near-impossible task of getting from their original position to the desired destination they require. A Nuvi, for example, which is a small (as small as a box of twenty cigarettes) gadget with an easy to use touch screen graphical user interface, will display a map of the immediate area, provided it has the data stored in its memory, and obligingly guide it’s owner via voice suggestions concisely and directly to their targeted destination. It can store up to any number of maps and geographically useful items of information, within the capacity of its probably large digital memory, making it indispensable to any person who happens to need to negotiate difficult traffic situations or perhaps cut a living in the regular transportation of goods or what have you to destinations of irregular situation.

These to name a few, are some of the great benefits of investing in the brilliant service of a GPS tracking system.

Phil Smulian is a reviewer for supplier of a vehicle tracker, who will help you with real time vehicle tracking, Tracetec.

A GPS Vehicle Tracking System Can Help Anyone

Recently, my neighbor’s truck was stolen in his driveway. If he had invested in a GPS Vehicle Tracking System, the thief would have been apprehended because GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems are able to assist the police in tracking down vehicles with practically no problem.

After most GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems are installed, you can program the system to send calls to your cell phone, blackberry, and other communication devices. The GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems will then notify your communication device when someone is tampering with your vehicle. Some GPS Tracking Systems will even allow you to locate your vehicle via the internet.

GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems are excellent for monitoring teens driving habits with real-time vehicle location with photos. Some GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems will even monitor a driver’s speed with alerts.

Fleet Managers are using GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems for asset tracking, for tracking and monitoring employees and vehicles, to stop employee moonlighting, to recoup time and money, to increase productivity, and decrease fuel costs.

Construction Equipment Owners are using GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems to actively manage vehicles, for anti-theft support, to increase productivity, to decrease fuel costs and for continuous on/off reporting.

Car Rental Managers are using GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems for asset management, for easy rental vehicle tracking, for boundary violations, to coordinate vehicle maintenance and service checks, to remotely lock/unlock vehicles doors, and to recover stolen vehicles.

Who else can benefit from a GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems?

How Vehicle Tracking Improves Fleet Operations

Fleet tracking has long been used by operators of multiple vehicles to help them function more efficiently. It is just accepted by most people as an important function that should occur.

But how, exactly, does vehicle tracking improve fleet operations? Let’s take a closer look.

Less driver downtime

When you can track your fleet closely, it is easier to reduce the amount of driver downtime. For example, if a particular driver is running ahead of schedule you can quickly and easily direct that driver to additional jobs that are close to his or her location. Instead of coming in early or sitting around in a parking lot, that driver can pick up new jobs on the fly.

Urgent dispatch

Re-routing a vehicle is easy to do when the unexpected occurs, and last minute customer needs can be fulfilled without undue hassle or delay. For example, if you run a repair business and receive an urgent customer service call, with a vehicle tracking system you can quickly determine which fleet vehicle is available and closest to the customer in need.

Re-supply in the field

Fleet vehicles often run short on supplies or parts while out in the field, usually due to unexpected demand or unforeseen additional repairs. With vehicle tracking, a supply vehicle can replenish other vehicles in the field, instead of those vehicles driving all the way back to a central location to pick up more supplies or parts.

Monitor employee performance

Drivers of fleet vehicles generally work autonomously, following their assigned route and completing their assigned tasks without direct supervision. Managers and supervisors, then, benefit from having access to a tracking system that allows them to check and verify the location and activities of each driver. In this way, it is easier to ensure that each employee’s performance is at the expected level, and take corrective action if it is not.

Protect against theft and damage

Fleet vehicles represent a substantial capital investment as well as the ability to conduct business on a daily basis. When a vehicle is stolen, broken into, or otherwise damaged it costs the business money. A vehicle tracking system can make it easier to recover stolen vehicles and reconstruct accidents or other causes of damage.

Selecting the right tracking system

Until recently, there was only one kind of vehicle tracking system available. Thanks to new technology and creative application of that technology, fleet operators of all sizes now have a choice.

Traditional systems are expensive to buy, in terms of the tracking units themselves, the additional infrastructure required, and the monthly subscription fees. Such systems are complex and require dedicated personnel to operate, making them unaffordable for all but the largest vehicle fleets.

The newest type of system is much more economical. The tracking units are affordable, there are no monthly subscription fees, and it is operated via a standard mobile telephone. The functionality of this type of system is more robust, too, as it proactively monitors vehicles rather than waiting for the operator to request a location check. These advantages combine to make this system, marketed by AutoAlert, affordable for even the smallest vehicle fleets.

Richard Harris is a vehicle telecommunications expert who has developed an innovative vehicle tracking system. He advises on vehicle tracking, and a range of information can be found at http://www.autoalert-alarms.co.uk/news_toc.jsp

Is Vehicle Tracking Economical for Small Fleets

Most people involved with any kind of vehicle fleet are at least somewhat familiar with the benefits of fleet tracking technology. Large fleets of all kinds are nearly always equipped with some sort of tracking equipment, which allows the vehicle owners to conduct operations more efficiently and more effectively. The cost is pretty high, but when that cost is allocated across a large fleet, it becomes economical.

But what about small fleets? The high cost of fleet tracking would seem to put it out of reach of most, if not all, small fleet operators. Thanks to new technology and an innovative application of that technology, it is now possible for vehicle tracking to be economical for small fleets, even those as small as one or two vehicles.

This new technology is revolutionary in that for the first time, a fleet operator can monitor and track vehicles through the use of a standard mobile phone. There is no need for an expensive call centre, additional infrastructure, or bulky equipment in the vehicle. This means that upfront costs and operating costs are much lower and very affordable.

For example, a typical tracking unit can be purchased outright for a few hundred dollars and requires no ongoing subscription fees. In contrast to traditional systems that require a large capital investment and substantial monthly fees, this is a huge advantage for small fleet owners. And if the small fleet operator wants to lower the upfront costs even further, alternate pricing plans allow the operator to pay little or no fee for the unit and a small ($30 or less) monthly subscription fee.

One of the most attractive aspects of this new technology is that it tracks vehicles proactively rather than reactively. In other words, the system is constantly aware of where each vehicle is located, unlike traditional systems that depend on the vehicle owner to contact the central call centre and initiate a tracking request. It also can send customised alerts and messages to notify the operator if a vehicle is having a mechanical problem, has been stolen, or is otherwise in need of attention.

Why, exactly, is this new technology so helpful to small fleet operators? Because it allows the operator to benefit from less driver downtime, more efficient dispatch, and the freedom for fleet managers and engineers to spend their time in the field rather than in the office. And all of these things contribute to the one thing that is most compelling – increased profits due to better fleet management.

There is currently one company offering this new technology to individual consumers as well as fleet operators of all types and sizes. It is called AutoAlert and is based in the UK, but has the capability to offer service across many other countries around the world.

Regardless of the size of your fleet, the good news for your bottom line is that fleet tracking technology has changed for the better. Now more than ever, it is economical and convenient to track even small fleets efficiently, conveniently, and at a reasonable cost.

Richard Harris is a vehicle telecommunications expert who has developed an innovative vehicle tracking system. He advises on vehicle tracking, and a range of information can be found at http://www.autoalert-alarms.co.uk/customer_badvice.jsp
